GO WEST: Day 1 + 2

WHEN? Thursday, 19 May 2005 + Friday, 20 May 2005
WHERE? Vancouver, British Columbia
WHO? Elsie + Kimmy + Stan + Mike + Trail of Dead + (Internatioanl) Noise Conspiracy

DAY 1: Leaving Home

Corner of Bloor W + Dundas W on 04.19.05.05 at 5:07am

Waiting for the Airport Rocket at the crack of dawn

Me on the plane at 7:30am:
"Vancouver here i come! When is this thing going to land?!?!"

a look at GTA as we're taking off..

I'm free like a bird, even birds can't fly this high!

DAY 1: Shopping on Robson

Isn't this ridiculous? Two Starbucks at the same intersection of Thurlow + Robson!

Is this a streetcar? Is this a bus? Vancouver's cabled-bus. Very weird.

Mimosa Accessories (1192 Robson St - 604.484.2092)
this is a cute store with lots of rhinestone accessories, they were having a promotion of buy one get one half price. So i bought a bling-bling skully necklace and a pair of lightning bolt earrings. Cute!

Silver Gallery (1226 Robson St - 604.681.6884)
I heart this shoppe! I bought a pendant and a ring from the store, it carries unique sterling silver jewellery, some from local artists. Reasonably priced, variety of sizes, and staff are very friendly.

"OMG!! Gigantic Pocky's!!!!"

Konbiniya (1238 Robson St - 604.682.3634)
What a cute Japanese convenience store. It has great selection of Pretz and Pocky plus all other Japanese import goodies. Cheap too!

Vancouver Art Gallery (750 Hornby Street - 604.662.4719)
Check website for current exhibitions. The Emily Carr permanent is worth checking out. It's only $5 after 5pm on Thursdays! Sweet!

Some vandalized fountain near the VAG. haha!

DAY 2: Gastown

Deluxe Junk (310 W Cordova Street - 604.685.4871)
Good selection especially the jewellery and brooches section. I bought a cute patched full skirt from here. Definitely worth a visit.

The Steam Clock

"Erhm, where am i?"

"You are HERE."

Day 2: Around the City

Random birds near a fountain in a city park.

"Elsie, what exactly are you doing?"

Comtemporary Art Gallery (555 Nelson St - 604.681.2700)
Kimmy and i discovered this as we were walking on Richard, we got all these "expression" pins. Everyone was helping everyone getting pins and using their umbrells to knock down the ones from higher position. it was awesome!

Richard's on Richards (1036 Richards St - 604.688.1099)
Kimmy claimed this is a good venue. Many bands have played there, and people are lax and the crowd usually are good here.

Tsunami Sushi (238-1025 Robson St - 604.687.8744)
Rotating sushi bar, so fresh! so fun! so good!

Mike and I at Tsunami Sushi.
This is one of my most favourite pix from this trip.

(These are just some of the stores and sites, a sneak preview of what my Stylish CityGuide would be like, so stay tunned peeps!)
