GO WEST: DAY 3 - 5

WHEN? Saturday, 21 May 2005 - Monday, 23 May 2005
WHERE? Vancouver, British Columbia

Day 3: Yaletown

Urban Fare (177 Davie Street - 604.975.7550)
I HEART THIS STORE!! It's like Pusateri's and Whole Foods in Yorkdale, Toronto, combined in one! It's located by the water, beneath Stan's posh apartment. Gourmet, over-priced, organic groceries and ready-to-go meals.. but i'm a gourmet sucker like that.

Mavi Store (1081 Mainland St - 604.696.6284)
Great jeans, okay price. But this store carries some exclusive styles and washes that i have never seen before.

Boulangerie la Parisienne (1000 Mainland St - 604.684.2499)
Cute little French Cafe in Yaletown. Breads, cakes and other baked goodies plus soups , salad, sandwichs and croissants. Excellent!

Chintz & Company (950 Homer St - 604.689.2022)
A lovely home shoppe, quite high-end but good selection from your garden needs to bathroom to bedroom and onto the living room!

Day 3: Everybody hates a tourist... but loves me

Canada Place (780 - 999 Canada Place - 604.775.7200)
This is where all the cruise ships come in.

Me taking the SkyTrain to Commercial Drive.

Miscellaneous SkyTrain station

Science World (1455 Quebec Street - 604.268.6363)
I passed by this on route to Commercial Drive, too bad didn't have time to visit there.

Virgin Mary (1035 Commercial Drive - 604.844.7848)
What a cute store, it has a small collection of new clothes by local designers but most of the store is well-picked vintage. I bought this very cute brown/white/red wrapped skirt with lion and a mouse print.. soo adorable!

Random mosaic art on the sidewalk of Commercial Drive.

Time to SkyTrain home.. beam me up, Scottie!

Blenz (700 Davie Street at Granville - 604.609.2557)
Mike and I had some delicious Dark Belgium Hot Chocolate there!

Day 4: Brunch + Film

La Crêpe Bretonne (795 Jervis St + Robson - 604.608.1266)
Late Sunday morning, Mike and I went on a search for brunch places around the rainny city. We ended up discovering this cute little French Crepe place on Jervis & Robson. It's quite authentic, the staff even has French accents! Yummmm!

Cineplex Odeon on Granville (855 Granville St + Robson - 604.684.4000)
What to do on a rainny day you say? After brunch we went to see a film instead, we saw Crash.

Day 4: Mini Roadtrip to Porteau Cove

Look at those mountains!

Passing another bridge..

May we present you... PORTEAU COVE!

Trail of Dead aftermath for Kimmy

Kimmy: OMG Look at that viewwww!
Stan: Yo, the camera's over here!

Casual conversation by the ocean...

Oh oops, we were suppose to be taking picture? OKAY!

Elsie: What's that? Can we go over there?
Stan: What? Swim there?

Elsie: Okee, picture time
Stan: You have to pose don't you?

Touch the ocean for good luck! Wheeeeee!

A view from Porteau Cove

Harry Winston Jerome: BC's Athlete of the Century
World Record holder // 1971 Order of Canada

On your mark... Get set...

GOAL!!!!!

"Rainbow" District on Davie St.
Look the bus stops are hott pink! HOTT!

Subeez Cafe (891 Homer Street - 604.687.6107)
Stan swears by their Teriyaki Salmon Sandwich, I swear by their frites with aioli, Kimmy and I both swear on this hott hostess. Good ambiance, good decor, reasonably priced, and most important of all -- they play good music!

"OMG is that a penis?"

The next Gianfranco Ferre eyewear model

My dinner: Broiled Tuna Sandwich with sesame crusted orange and wasabi mayonnaise, served with frites and aioli, plus a side mixed green salad with balsamic vinegarette

Day 5: La Casa Gelato

La Casa Gelato (1033 Venables St - 604.251.3211)
Getting here is like a mini-daytrip on its own. The store is sort of in the middle of nowhere but the 22 Bus can take you right to the doorstep. 208 Flavours of Gelato. Ahoy! Ahoy! Can i say heaven?

"So many options, should i try this one?"

"No, try THIS one!"

Kimmy's lunch: Frangelico & Chocolate flake and Toblerone scoops

Elsie's lunch: Chocolate & Peanut Butter and Fig with Chocolate Shaving scoops
